PCM’s wrestling squad was swept in a triangular Thursday night at Perry, while the basketball squads will have a Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader tonight against West Marshall.
The Mustangs’ wrestling squad lost both of their duals to Perry and Roland-Story in their triangular. PCM lost to Perry 51-25 as they came away with just five total victories, including three by fall. The Mustangs had one victory by decision and one by major decision. PCM also lost their second match of the triangular, 48-38, to Roland-Story. The Mustangs fared better in the second match, accumulating seven victories. Five of those victories were by fall and two were by decision. PCM’s dual record now stands at 1-8.
PCM will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Fort Madison tonight for the Fort Madison Invitational this weekend. The Mustangs will compete with 22 other teams across Iowa, Missouri, and Illinois. The tournament begins tonight at 5:00 PM.
The Mustangs’ girls’ basketball squad will ultimately face their toughest task of the season going against an undefeated and No. 10 in Class 3A West Marshall team. PCM is coming off winning their third game out of four, edging Perry, 40-34, Tuesday night. Addison Steenhoek had a breakout game, dropping a career-high 21 points. West Marshall has won the last two matchups with PCM after the Mustangs won the previous three.
The Mustangs’ boys’ basketball squad will try to get their third Heart of Iowa Conference win over West Marshall Friday. PCM is coming off dominating Perry Tuesday night with their largest margin of victory this season. The Mustangs will be looking for their third straight victory against the Trojans after sweeping them last year by winning each game by more than 20 points.
The doubleheader tonight at PCM High School gets underway with the girls’ game beginning at 6:00 PM.
