The Pella Christian basketball teams host their first Little Hawkeye Conference game of the season tonight as they welcome Grinnell to Eagle Lane.

The Eagles will be seeking a measure of revenge against the Tigers in the boys game as Grinnell split with Pella Christian last season by winning the most recent matchup by a single point. In the girls game, the Eagles are searching for their first win over the Tigers since 2013. Grinnell can light it up from beyond the arc, ranking fifth in Class 4A in three-pointers made, and Pella Christian Head Girls Basketball Coach Brad Engbers said his team will need to be sharp on defense to walk away with the win.

“They’re going to light it up, and if you get them on the wrong night, you’ve got to make sure that you’re out contesting those shots and knowing where and identifying where those shooters are. Again, I’m pleased with how our defense is playing for the most part and we’re going to get into that game with plenty of practice and good rest that some of the kids need and we’ll be ready to play.”

Tonight’s doubleheader between the Eagles and Tigers can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS beginning with pregame coverage at 6 pm.
