A Wreaths Across America ceremony will be at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville tomorrow to honor fallen veterans. During the ceremony, wreaths will be placed on the graves of those who served in the armed forces while their name is read aloud. American Legion member Curt Froyen says this is to honor the sacrifices of veterans in a holiday-themed setting.
“The purpose is to not only honor our fallen veterans, but to also honor veterans who are currently serving. It’s also an opportunity to teach our children about the value of freedom, and the sacrifices being made by the men and women serving this country now and in the past.”
Volunteers are needed, and are asked to arrive at 10:00 a.m., with the ceremony beginning at 11:00. This ceremony is part of Wreaths Across America Day, with similar ceremonies taking place throughout the United States. Wreaths Across America is a national nonprofit organization that was founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, DC.
