The Indianola School Board approved the 2022-23 Year Round School Calendar at their most recent meeting, setting the calendar for students of Irving Elementary. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News Indianola has one of the few year-round programs in the entire state, which offers a different pacing than the traditional calendar.

“Basically the kids get started earlier so there is potentially less learning loss from over the summer. Then they have a nice break time in the fall and in the spring, usually in October then sometimes spring break is extended a week in March. During those break times too, we offer something called intercession where we have enrichment or remedial courses, and that has been really popular, many people have taken advantage of that.”

Sathoff also said the year-round calendar has the same amount of instructional days as the traditional calendar, just more spread out.
