After the Revenue Estimating Conference projected additional revenue growth after a surplus was reported earlier this year, state lawmakers from both parties have discussed possible tax changes in the upcoming session.

Although the ideas may differ through partisan debate or the two chambers of the Iowa Statehouse, District 79 State Representative Dustin Hite and District 40 State Senator Ken Rozenboom both say there will likely be significant changes and likely reduction to current income tax rates.

Both say tax reform will likely dominate the discussion for not only what can be done short term but potential multiple year solutions relating to sales tax, tax credits, and corporate rates.

The 2022 Iowa Legislative Session begins on January 10th, and is the second-year of the 89th General Assembly. This will be the final year both Hite and Rozenboom represent Pella before new districts take place for the November 2022 elections.
