The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday evening. They tabled a discussion of vacating an alley in the 500 block of W baker, and approved a resolution directing a sale of real property. They approved a resolution regarding an evaluation of existing precinct boundaries in Knoxville that happens after every census. Precinct boundaries will remain the same. They approved a plat survey of 1510 W Pleasant in response to a request that it be rezoned from commercial to residential. They approved a resolution approving an agreement between the city and RDG related to the preparation of a parks and recreation system master plan. They heard a review of the activities of the Knoxville Chamber over the past year, with the conclusion that it had been a successful year with many activities. There are 165 current members. They heard a review of the current state of the development of the VA property, with a discussion of whether the proposed splash park be built in Veterans Park, rather than in Youngs Park, where it is currently planned. They heard a presentation regarding downtown revitalization, focusing on opportunities for business owners to receive grant and loan funding. One major focus is to “get rid of the tin.” They also heard a budget presentation.
