For those outside of the Twin Cedars Girls Basketball program, playing for sole possession of 1st place in the Bluegrass Conference this early in the season may be a bit surprising. But here are the Sabers taking on consensus conference favorite Lamoni for that very spot. Coach Zack Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it has been a whirlwind of sorts the first month of the season trying to get his system installed and watching his players build a 7-2 overall record. He wants his girls to play well, and to leave it all out on the court since this is the final game before Christmas break.
Dunkin: “Get all the energy focused on Lamoni and we’ll wait to change the energy during our break practices, so no reason to not to leave it all out there.”
For the boys it is a chance to get some momentum heading into the break against a team like Twin Cedars has had an uneven start to the season at 4-4. The girls are set to tip off at 6:”00 at Twin Cedars High School.
