A Knoxville man has been arrested for stealing from Walmart. 34-year-old Cody Wayne Lovell is alleged to have entered the Knoxville Walmart multiple times in November with the intent to commit theft.
Lovell allegedly took store merchandise out the exit of the garden center to his vehicle, while also causing up to $1,500 in damage to a garden center gate. Court documents say that Lovell used a ladder to climb onto the roof of the store to move a security camera in an attempt to evade detection.
During an interview with law enforcement, Lovell allegedly admitted to committing theft at the Knoxville Walmart at least five times. A search warrant executed at Lovell’s home turned up Walmart merchandise valued at $5,057.78.
Lovell was arrested Sunday and posted a $7,000 bond. He’s charged with Theft 2nd degree, a Class D felony, as well as Criminal Mischief 3rd degree. A preliminary hearing will be held December 30th.
