One of the pleasant surprises for the Knoxville Girls basketball Squad this early season is the emergence of Anna Buttell. Buttell is shooting a team high 41% from the field and leads the Panthers with nine three point field goals made. Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he knew she would be a good offensive player, but he is also pleased with her defense as well.
Ritchhart: “She didn’t play a whole lot of basketball last year and played a lot this summer and we knew her offense would be good, but we were wondering what her defense would be and she uses her length really well, and she got 13 points off the bench and we had 58 so a season high.”
Buttell scored 13 points off the bench in a recent win over Davis County where she helped the Panthers defeat the Mustangs. Knoxville will get back to action on January 4th at Centerville.
