The band directors of the Pella Community School District have been spending their winter break in Pasadena, California, in anticipation of a special trip for the Marching Dutch next season.

Dameon Place, Jeff Robilliard, Gabe Schott, and Sam Nau were able to head to this year’s Tournament of Roses parade to prepare for the 2023 event that will feature Pella High School. This will be the third time in school history the Marching Dutch have participated in the country’s premiere event for high school marching bands, with previous trips in 1988 and 2003 — Pella is the first Iowa program to make three trips to the Rose Bowl.

Fundraising efforts are underway to support the more than 200 students who have signed up to make the trip during winter break at the end of 2022. Contact Pella Band Director Dameon Place for more details.
