While injuries and some lineup shuffles slowed some momentum early for the Pella wrestling team, a return to full health and more clear answers in some weight classes has the team excited for what they can accomplish with the stretch run looming.
Head Coach Jay Pike says with veteran Peyton Ritzert expected to be back in the lineup when the Dutch return to action after the break, the team will be as healthy as they have been all season. And with many of the weight classes starting to take shape in terms of consistent varsity starters, Pike believes his group is poised to knock off some strong competition as they begin to prepare for the looming conference and district tournaments.
Pella has been paced thus far by a 17-3 record from Logan Bruxvoort, 16-4 win-loss mark for T.R. Putz, 15 wins each from Noah Parsons and Damion Clark, and 14 wins apiece from Jackson Van Kley, Daniel Loftis, Logan Schroeder.
The Dutch wrestling team opens the 2022 portion of their schedule on January 6th at Norwalk for a dual meet.
