pleasantville-3

As Pleasantville’s wrestling squad prepares for 2022, they continue to show their depth and competitiveness despite getting stuck with injuries and illnesses.

The Trojans have gotten off to a strong start, accumulating a 6-4 dual record and top-three finishes in all three tournaments they competed in. Pleasantville also won one tournament so far this year, which was the Coach Riley Invitational at Nodaway Valley. The Trojans have dealt with injuries and illnesses, causing them to go deep into their lineup. The next-man-up mentality has been very beneficial for Pleasantville, and Coach Heath Deforest says that he believes his team can be even more dangerous once the holiday break ends.

“So far, when we are healthy we are tough out. I think a lot of teams are dealing with it right now, so it necessarily isn’t an excuse but we have been hit with the injury bug.”

Pleasantville will take the mat Thursday for their first meet of the 2022 calendar year, which is a quadrangular at Colfax-Mingo.
