The first major snow fall of the winter season impacted the region Saturday.

Most of Marion County received 5-8″ of snow, including 5 1/2″ at both KNIA/KRLS studios in Pella and Knoxville. Higher amounts were recorded by listeners, especially south of those two communities. Most of Warren County received an estimated five inches of snow.

Bitter cold followed on Sunday, with wind chill values as cold as 25 below zero. A brief warmup to near freezing is expected earlier this week, which may help with clearing this weekend’s snow, before bitter cold returns again Wednesday and Thursday.
