The Knoxville Police Department served as host for a special kind of safety training this week. Janna Day, State Child Passenger Safety Coordinator with Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines was here to offer training for attendees to be Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Day tells KNIA/KRLS News that among the trainees were officers from the Knoxville, Pleasantville, and Pella Police Departments. Nurses were also among those getting trained.
Day says that there are over 350 Child Passenger Safety Technicians in the State, and that anyone can take the class. She says stay at child care professionals often earn the certification. Kyle Keller, School Resource Officer for the Knoxville Schools says the class was great, and that he would like to thank Hy Vee for providing lunches for the several day session.
