It was a successful day at the PCM Mustang Tournament for local wrestling squads as Pella, Pleasantville, Knoxville, and PCM all finished in the top six.
The Dutch won the invitational, finishing with a total of 200 team points, including nine top three finishes. Pella had one wrestler win their weight class, who was Logan Bruxvoort at 160 lbs. Damion Clark at 120 lbs, Logan Schroeder at 126 lbs, Peyton Ritzert at 138 lbs, T.R. Putz at 145 lbs, Gavin Norton at 170 lbs, and Noah Parsons at 195 lbs all finished second in their respective weight classes. Jackson Van Kley at 152 lbs and Kieran Van Voorst at 182 lbs finished third.
The Trojans finished second in the invitational with 156 team points. Pleasantville had three top-three finishes across the weight classes. Caleb Cook at 126 lbs had the lone first-place finish for the Trojans. Kitt Lundy at 132 lbs and Dillen Ammons at 160 lbs finished second.
The Panthers finished fifth with 128 team points, just a point and a half behind fourth-place Earlham. Knoxville had five top-three finishes and two first-place finishes, who were Luke Spaur at 132 lbs and Wayne Johnston at 182 lbs. The other top-three finishers were Marco Alejo at 120 lbs placing second, Tristan DeJong at 160 lbs finishing third, and Hayden Jones at heavyweight finishing third.
The Mustangs finished sixth with 98 team points, eight ahead of seventh-place Gilbert. At their home invitational, PCM had two top-three finishes. Nate Richards at 170 lbs and Donovan Nickelson at 195 lbs both finished third.
All teams will be back in action Thursday. The next time Pella hits the mats will be at Indianola for a triangular with the host and Woodward-Granger. Pleasantville will hit the mats for a triangular with West Central Conference foe Interstate-35 and Wayne. Knoxville will be back in action for a South Central Conference quadrangular at Centerville with Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Davis County. PCM will be right back at home for a Heart of Iowa Conference triangular with Greene County and South Hamilton.
