The Indianola School District approved new COVID-19 guidelines from the CDC in conjunction with Warren County Health Services, reducing the isolation time from 10 to 5 days if the student has not had a fever for 24 hours, and is willing to wear a mask to school for days 6-10. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the board has made it clear from the start they want students to be learning in the classroom as much as possible.
“The board saw this as an opportunity to get kids back in school potentially five days more quickly, and that has been an emphasis for our district throughout the pandemic was to have our kids in school. So now it becomes a choice for parents, if they are more comfortable having their kids out for the 10 days or require their students to have to wear a mask for the 6-10 day period they can do that. If they want students back in school potentially five days more quickly, the option is there to wear the mask for days 6-10.”
