Action starts tonight at 5:30pm.
Indianola Basketball Teams Travel to Norwalk
The Indianola basketball teams are facing off with Warren County rival Norwalk a day earlier than expected due to the expected weather Friday evening, with the Warriors hosting the Indians tonight in Little Hawkeye Conference play.
The Norwalk boys will have one less day of rest after their four-overtime thriller against Dallas Center-Grimes on Tuesday where they nearly upset the #2 Mustangs, while the Indians boys are also coming off of an overtime game against Newton that saw the Indians having to adjust to pace, something head coach Jeff Ebling says they will have to do again tonight.
“Osky and Newton have played that style the last two games for us, so one positive of playing those types of games is if a team tries to slow us down we can play that way, and if a team wants to play up and down we have no problem with doing that either. That’s the sign of a good team, being able to play with what the other team is giving you and being able to execute on offense.”
The Norwalk girls continue their grind of a schedule, facing off against their third straight top-6 opponent having already fallen to Grinnell and DCG. Indianola is on a four game winning streak, and will attempt to keep their current spot in a three-way tie atop the conference standings. Norwalk head coach Jill Martin says even though the previous games haven’t been easy, she’s looking for the same effort.
“I’m hoping we see the same from what we’ve seen the last two games, at home with our crowd again. It’s a great team, another top-5 team in our class, and we are excited for the opportunity and we are going to go out and give it our best effort and we’re excited to have it at home.”
The games tonight can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA with Andrew Swadner and Chris Larson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15.
