The new housing development projects being constructed in Knoxville will lead to an increase in population, which may lead to the need of more resources for Knoxville Fire and Rescue. Chief Cal Wyman tells KNIA/KRLS News that the anticipated growth of the city could lead to the need for more staff and emergency vehicles.
“I think we’re going to be in a position where we need to start looking at adding a fourth ambulance to our rotation and adding some staff to staff those ambulances. Over time we’ve seen that the demand in our service has been increasing steadily, and that’s not going to stop. We’re always going to see a steady increase.”
Wyman added that while he isn’t predicting another 7% increase in calls responded to this year, he does anticipate an increase of 2-4%.
