windchill-2

A mild start to the week will give way to an arctic blast of air by Wednesday. Low temperatures will drop well below zero Wednesday and Thursday night into the following mornings, with wind chill values as low as 25 below zero expected, according to the National Weather Service. Thursday will be the coldest point of the week, as afternoon highs barely top zero degrees. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur in those conditions in as little as 30 minutes, especially without proper winter gear for protection. Everyone is asked to avoid prolonged exposure outdoors and to bring outdoor pets into shelter. With significant melting possible Tuesday, there may also be a re-freeze on many roads, which may cause slick travel Wednesday morning.
