The Norwalk Warriors earned a non-conference sweep of their Warren County rival Carlisle on the road Monday, as the girls would get the best of the Wildcats 60-34 and the boys would win 43-27.

In the girls contest Carlisle would come out firing to start off with a quick 7-0 run before Head Coach Jill Martin would call a timeout to settle her team down. Carlisle would carry the run to an 11-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter which would end up being the last time the Wildcats would lead on the night. Senior Jocelyn Bice (JoJo) would put on a clinic as her attacking tenacious play would power the Warriors to a 25-15 advantage at the break, fueled by Bice’s 13 points.

In the second half it would be Bice, Bice and more Bice as the senior would finish the night with 30 points on her way to breaking the 1,000 point mark on her career. Bice tells KNIA Sports it was a relief for her to have a goal of getting to 1,000 points and to finally reach that goal. She says she knows there is no way she would have achieved her goal if it wasn’t for her teammates helping her along the way.

Ava Johnson would add 10 points as well, as Norwalk moves on to 7-6 overall and travels to Eagle Lane to face Pella Christian on Friday.

In the boys game, Norwalk and Carlisle would battle in a slow paced methodical contest with Norwalk commanding the lead throughout leading 13-5 after one quarter of play and 22-10 at the half.

Junior Braeden Carlson would lead the Warriors with 22 points as the Warriors would repeatedly find Carlson underneath the basket for easy scores and putbacks. The slow pace and aggressive Norwalk defense would prove too much for Carlisle as they fell to just 1-12 on the season. Norwalk moves back to .500 at 6-6 but it doesn’t get any easier for Warriors as they will face Pella Christian on Friday and Pella on Tuesday with both games being played in Pella.
