The Pella City Council will hold a public hearing at their meeting this evening to award a contract for sanitary sewer lining projects throughout the community. Four bids were received to update the following lines:

• Molengracht Alley from Main to E. 1st
• Main Street from Franklin to Liberty
• W. 3rd Street extending 250 feet south from Franklin
• Oost Poort Alley extending 86 feet south
• Prairie Street from South to Oskaloosa
• Carson Street from Huber to University
• E 2nd Street from Peace to Huber
• Huber Street extending 270 feet west from E 2nd
• Washington Street extending 380 feet west from W 2nd
• W 2nd Street from Washington to Franklin

The total project cost is expected to be $172,000, and includes pre rehabilitation sewer cleaning inspection, lining of sewer pipes, removal of protruding service connections, and associated sanitary sewer work.

Council will also consider approval of the city attorney, acceptance of public improvements for Prairie Ridge Plat #3, and motions related to reprecincting following the 2020 census for unincorporated territory in Marion and Mahaska Counties.

Following regular business, the council will hear a presentation about two options for a new civic center as part of the ongoing planning to either renovate the current Pella Community Center or build something new.
