pleasantville-3

The Pleasantville basketball squads will be back on the hardwood for the first time in a week tonight as they will square off in a home West Central Conference Doubleheader with Van Meter.

The Trojans’ girls are currently riding a three-game winning streak and won four of the last five games. The two teams went against each other back on December 10, which was a 57-37 victory for Van Meter. The Bulldogs won the last seven matchups with the Trojans. The last time Pleasantville beat Van Meter was in February 2010. Coach Jeff Cook says that his team will have to play more consistently in order to get the win.

“We just have to put two halves together against Van Meter. We didn’t do that over there, we played well in the first half. It was a one-point game and then we just came out and played really poorly in the second half.”

The Trojans’ boys will have a tall task going up against a Bulldogs squad that is undefeated and No. 9 in Class 2A. This will be the second matchup between the two squads. Pleasantville lost the first matchup between the two teams December 10, 85-55. The lone bright spot was Mason Scheve tying a career-high with 35 points. Pleasantville is still looking for their first win over Van Meter in the VarsityBound era.

The doubleheader gets underway at Pleasantville High School with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:15 PM.
