The #5 Indianola girls basketball team could not keep up with #1 Glenwood Tuesday evening, falling 78-49 in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Indians fell behind early after the Rams went on a pair of early runs and trailed 20-12 after the first eight minutes, then did not score for the first five minutes of the second quarter and dug themselves a hole they could not dig out of to trail 36-17 at the half.
The offense picked up in the second half, as the Indians had to play at a frantic pace to try and get back into the game, but Glenwood’s sharpshooters punished the fast play and hit five three-point buckets to seal the win. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports the Indians did some things well, but when they review the film they will have to look for the little things that they did not accomplish and learn from the loss.
Lauren Blake had 20 points to lead the Indians, while Brynn Ortlund had 13. The Indians fall to 9-3 on the season, and will travel to Pella on Friday to resume conference play.
