For the second time this season, Pleasantville’s basketball squads were swept by the Van Meter Bulldogs in a West Central Conference Doubleheader Tuesday night.
The Trojans’ girls were dominated by the Bulldogs in the first half of the doubleheader, 71-28. Pleasantville lost their eighth straight matchup with Van Meter, and the loss drops them to 9-6 on the season with a 4-5 record in West Central Conference play. Malorie McKinney led the team in scoring with ten points.
The Trojans’ boys continued their losing streak to No. 9 in Class 2A Van Meter in the second half of the doubleheader, 76-52. The loss drops Pleasantville to 7-5 on the season with a 5-4 record in West Central Conference play. Mason Scheve led the team in scoring with 23 points. Scheve is now three points away from becoming the ninth Trojan to eclipse 1,000 career points. Dayson Leerhoff had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Pleasantville will be back in action Friday night for another West Central Conference Doubleheader at Des Moines Christian.
