As Warren County Conservation looks back on the year of 2021, a change in leadership of the organization stands out as one of the major events as longtime director Jim Priebe retired and Karen Johlas-Szalkowski and Mark Wilson took over the new Co-Director positions. Johlas-Szalkowski tells KNIA News it took a transition period to get used to the new arrangement, but it is using the strengths of everyone to get the best for Warren County Conservation.
“It’s been exciting, I’ve been learning new things each day. Mark and I have both taken on learning what is involved with the budget and how to best ask for funds for what we need here to maintain our funds and maintain our education department. It’s been a big learning curve but exciting at the same time.”
