The Central College women’s basketball team felt the effects on a two-week layoff on Saturday as they fell 95-58 to the University of Dubuque.

The Dutch, who were playing their first game since Jan. 8 due to health and safety protocols, committed 28 turnovers, primarily against Dubuque’s full-court press, which led to a 37-8 advantage in points off turnovers for The Spartans. Central got 13 points from Kelsea Hurley and Allison Van Gorp posted 12 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks.

The Dutch fell to 2-9 overall on the year and 0-5 in American Rivers Conference play with the loss. Central is off until next Saturday when they take on Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
