The Iowa Department of Public Services is now accepting applications for the department’s 47th Basic Academy for state troopers. Public Resource Officer Darren Flaherty tells KNIA/KRLS News about what qualifications they are looking for in candidates.
“A high school diploma/GED is all you need to become a trooper. We have (openings for) special agents in the Department of Criminal Investigation, Division of Narcotics, and Fire Inspectors. All those you need four-year degrees for those, but right now we are mainly focusing on hiring troopers.”
