PCM’s girls’ basketball squad’s winning streak ended at two Monday night as they lost to Newton, 43-28.
The Mustangs led after one half by one, but were outscored 24-8 in the second half, giving them their 12th loss of the season. Addison Steenhoek led the way in points for PCM, scoring nine points despite making just one shot from the field. Emily Foster was second on the team in scoring, chipping in eight points. With the loss, PCM drops to 5-12 on the season.
PCM will have a quick turnaround and be back in action tonight for the first half of a home Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader with Greene County. Mustangs coach Sami Allison-Rodriguez will return to the sideline after missing the last three games due to testing positive for COVID-19. The doubleheader begins at 6:00 PM and will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
