The Pella Christian Boys Basketball team is used to having a tough schedule. Playing in the Little Hawkeye Conference, the Eagles regularly play some of the top teams in classes 3A and 4A. Although the schedule can be difficult, just playing in tough games is not enough for Eagles Head Boys Basketball Coach J.D. Boer.
“You know anybody can play good teams. You’ve got to find a way to beat them and you know sometimes we use that (the tough schedule) as little bit of an excuse around here; and honestly I find that a little bit frustrating, like oh but they’re really good, like oh their bigger than us, but if we want to be an elite 2A program or an elite team in our league, we have to win a few of those. We don’t make those excuses. We find ways to continue to get better when we lose. And when we win, we say ok, that’s how we’ve got to play this game.”
The Eagles improved to 11-4 on the season after their overtime win over Indianola on Tuesday. Both Pella Christian basketball teams will return to the court tomorrow night when they travel to Grinnell.
