PCM’s basketball squads will go for the season sweep of Perry in a Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader.

The Mustangs’ girls have won three of their last four games, including knocking off Greene County Tuesday night. PCM won the first matchup between the two squads back on December 14th, 40-34. Addison Steenhoek led the way in scoring for the Mustangs, scoring a career-high 21 points. PCM will be looking to also have an above .500 record in Heart of Iowa Conference play for the first time this season. Coach Sami Allison-Rodriguez tells KRLS Sports that her team will have to continue taking away the opponent’s biggest strength in order to continue to win in the second half of the season.

“We need to do exactly what we did in the first half of the first game. We had confidence, we shut down their key players. I will say, the second time we have played teams, we have done better on some tendencies. The girls are starting to pick up on what we are asking them to do to take away some of the other team’s best player’s strengths.

The Mustangs’ boys have won four of their last five games, including beating Saydel and Greene County in their last two games. PCM won their first matchup with Perry, winning 70-37. The Mustangs will look to have double-digit wins in a season for the 16th consecutive year. PCM will also be going for their seventh Heart of Iowa Conference win this season, which would be the most in a season for PCM since 2019-20.

The Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader at Perry High School gets underway with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
