It was a dose of Dutch dominance Thursday as the Pella wrestling team pulled away from Grinnell 58-19 and PCM 72-12 at a home triangular. The Mustangs also fell to the Tigers 53-18.

The Dutch fell behind 15-0 to the Tigers before their middleweight wrestlers did the heavy lifting and scored nine wins in a row. Logan Schroder (126), Peyton Ritzert (138), T.R. Putz (145), and Jackson Van Kley (152) earned wins by fall.

Pella only lost one match to the Mustangs that wasn’t by forfeit — a win by fall for Hewitt Brinear over Garret Hall at 132. Damion Clark (120), Logan Bruxvoort (170), Kieran Van Voorst (182), Noah Parsons (195), and Ritzert, Putz, and Van Kley all earned pinfall wins against PCM.

Donovan Nickelson of PCM (195) earned a pinfall win for the Mustangs vs. Grinnell.

Pella improves to 14-8 in dual matches in 2021-22 — breaking the previous school record for most in one season. The Dutch join the rest of the Little Hawkeye Conference at the annual league meet in Oskaloosa Saturday. PCM is next in action at Fairfield this Saturday.
