Pleasantville’s wrestling squad swept their final dual matches of the season in their quadrangular at Panorama, while the basketball squads will be in action for a West Central Conference doubleheader tonight.
The Trojans’ wrestling squad knocked off the host, Panorama, Lynnville-Sully, and East Union to sweep the quadrangular. Pleasantville started off the night defeating Panorama 46-27. Pleasantville had three victories by fall, two by decision, one by major decision, and two by forfeit. The night continued with the Trojans beating Lynnville-Sully 58-24. Pleasantville had six victories by forfeit, two by fall, and one by major decision. The night was capped off with the Trojans dominating East Union 65-18. Pleasantville had five victories by fall, five by forfeit, and one by technical fall.
Pleasantville will have one final regular season tournament before postseason play begins, and the tournament will be the Charger Invitational at ACGC Saturday.
The Trojans’ girls’ basketball squad will try to break their three-game losing streak against the Hawks. Pleasantville has lost to Van Meter, Des Moines Christian, and Chariton in their last three games. Malorie McKinney recently broke the school record for most career blocks against Chariton Tuesday night, and she is currently eight blocks away from breaking the record for most blocks in a season. Pleasantville won the last matchup with Woodward-Granger last January, winning 40-31.
The Trojans’ boys’ basketball team will look to surpass their win total from last season against Woodward-Granger. Pleasantville broke their three-game losing streak Thursday with a dominating win over Chariton, a game where Mason Scheve set a new career-high with 36 points. Scheve currently stands seventh all-time in points scored in school history. He currently sits 86 points behind Brady Elder, whose point total sits at 1,166. The Trojans split their games with the Hawks last season.
The Senior Night West Central Conference doubleheader begins with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
