The Norwalk Warrior girls and boys basketball teams took care of Little Hawkeye Conference foe Oskaloosa Friday as the girls would win 65-39 and the boys held on for a 48-45 triumph.

In the girls contest sophomore Ava Johnson would power the Warriors with 22 points scoring 10 of those from the free throw line as Oskloosa would battle foul trouble throughout the contest as three Indians would end up fouling out. Senior Jocelyn Bice would add 19 points as well, as Norwalk pushes their win streak to four games as they hit the road to face Ames tonight.

In the boys game the Warriors and Indians would battle through a grinding physical affair with sophomore Redek Born and junior Braeden Carlson leading the way with 14 points each. Norwalk would take command early leading 11-9 after one quarter of play but Oskaloosa would not go away and would lead at the halftime break 24-22.

In the second half Oskaloosa would push the lead to as much as six before Norwalk’s stingy defense and timely rebounding would bring the Warriors back where they would eventually retake the lead late in the 4th quarter. Norwalk would survive a flurry of desperation shots from Oskaloosa in the final seconds to secure the three point win.

Norwalk Head Coach Aaron Pelzer tells KNIA Sports he hopes his team can learn from battling through a close game like this.

The boys move to 7-8 overall and will next be in action Tuesday when they travel to Newton to take on the Cardinals.
