The Pella City Council will establish a public hearing at a future meeting during regular business Tuesday to confirm the city’s tax rate.
According to a memo to council, the rate is expected to stay at $10.20 for the 21st consecutive year. The Iowa Legislature recently passed a law that requires municipalities to determine the maximum amount of taxes that they will certify to be levied as property taxes from certain levies in the upcoming fiscal year.
As part of the process, cities are required to hold a public hearing and consider public input prior to formal consideration.
This week’s Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Pella Public Safety Complex.
