With girls basketball teams running out of games and time to build postseason seeding resumes, the Pella girls basketball team (10-6 overall, 5-4 LHC) has a uniqe out-of-conference matchup this evening, as Des Moines North comes to the Tulip City.

The Polar Bears (12-5 overall) matchup brings a measure of intrigue and a unique opponent for the Dutch — replacing the long-standing PCM game, this is an upgrade in strength of foe with a metro school that could make for a barn-burner of a showdown.

Des Moines North has the 4th best defense in Class 5A (34.6 points allowed per game). The battle of the schools in green-and-white was last played with Pella dominating the Polar Bears with a pair of 70 point wins in 2013 and 2014 — but North has come a long way in that time.

Coverage begins at 6:30 this evening on 92.1 KRLS and the Pella Dutch Live YouTube channel.
