pleasantville-3

Pleasantville’s basketball squads will be back in action for a road West Central Conference doubleheader tonight against West Central Valley.

The Trojans’ girls are coming off breaking a three-game losing streak with a victory over Woodward-Granger on Friday with a 59-32 win. Pleasantville will be keeping an eye on Malorie McKinney, who is on the verge of breaking the school record for most blocks in a season. Pleasantville has won two of the previous three matchups between the two teams, including beating them last season by 19 points. With the win, the Trojans would surpass their win total from last season and have the most wins by a Trojan squad since 2017-18, when the team went 11-12. Coach Jeff Cook tells KNIA Sports that he is going to be focusing on turning his defense into offense.

“Well I think what we just talked about is our defense needs to be solid. Our offense tends to feed off of that, we just need to get good play out of our bench.”

The Trojans’ boys will try to extend their winning streak to four games against the Wildcats. Pleasantville is coming off winning their last matchup over Woodward Academy Tuesday thanks to a career-high 43 points from Mason Scheve. In addition to his career-high, Scheve also broke the school record for most career three-pointers. Scheve is currently 18 points away from surpassing Brady Elder for sixth all-time in points scored in school history. Pleasantville won their previous four matchups with West Central Valley, including beating them 59-43 last season.

The doubleheader at West Central Valley High School gets underway at 6:00 PM.
