pleasantville-3

In a road West Central Conference doubleheader, Pleasantville’s basketball squads came away with a split at West Central Valley.

The Trojans’ girls suffered their fourth loss in their last five games, losing to West Central Valley 53-49. Pleasantville struggled to get anything going from beyond the arc, and their West Central Conference record drops to 5-7 along with their 10-9 record. Malorie McKinney led the way in scoring, knocking in a career-high 28 points. Unfortunately, she was the only Trojan to hit double figures. Joelle Johnson was second on the team in scoring with nine.

The Trojans’ boys came away with their fourth straight win, dominating the Wildcats, 74-37. Mason Scheve continues his hot scoring streak, knocking in another 35 points, his fifth 30-point game of the season. Scheve has now moved up to sixth all-time in scoring in Pleasantville history, surpassing Brady Elder. Scheve now stands 29 points behind fifth place all-time, who is Mike Collins at 1,202 career points. Andrew Pender finished with 13 points and seven assists in the win. Pleasantville was red-hot from beyond the arc, knocking down 13 of 24 three-pointers.

Both teams will be back in action tonight for their final road West Central Conference doubleheader at ACGC. The doubleheader begins with the girls’ game tipping off at 6:00 PM.
