The total amount raised during the Panthers vs Cancer event on January 22nd was $48,589.04. The Knoxville Cancer Relay donated $25,353.26, while the silent auction, t-shirt sales, and other donations brought in $23,235.78. Knoxville Head Girls Basketball Coach Matt Ritchhart tells KNIA/KRLS News he was happy with how the event went and hopes to see it grow in the coming years.

“We wanted to continue the good trend that the Coaches vs Cancer event in the past has been for the community. We wanted to keep that going, and obviously we put our little twist on it here with renaming and rebranding to Panthers vs Cancer, so it means a lot to keep this going and hopefully we can continue to build on it in the future.”

Half of the money raised is going toward the American Cancer Society, and the other half is going to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics Foundation, which recently received a donation to build a new cancer treatment and infusion center.
