The Indianola basketball teams travel to Newton High School tonight to continue American Rivers Conference play, with both teams looking to complete the season sweep over the Cardinals.
The #9 Indianola boys had to survive overtime against the Cardinals in their first matchup at Indianola High School, where the Indians used 16/22 from the free throw line to beat a Cardinals team that has picked up wins and stuck with some of the top teams of the conference.
The #4 Indians girls used a 22-5 first quarter run to pull away from the Cardinals to earn a victory in the first matchup, where Indianola held Newton to just 26% shooting from the field to earn a 20-point win. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports Newton always gives Indianola a challenge, and playing on the road in their gym is never an easy experience so the Indians will need to bring their best effort to come away with a win.
The games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off at 6:15.
