The Knoxville Basketball Squads lost to Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Monday night with the girls ending a frustrating night falling 57-37 and the boys hung with the Blue Devils but fell 68-55. The boys stayed with Martensdale-St. Mary’s for most of the game, tying the contest at halftime at 30. However the Blue Devils hit nine three point shots four in the 2nd half and three when they pulled away in the 4th quarter. Panthers Sophomore Player Jay Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports it was a great effort by everyone, they just came up short against a good team.

Kellar: “Coming into this game, we wanted to get a win out of this one. We knew they were good shooters, but it was a tough game for sure.”

Landen Norris scored 25 points to lead Knoxville and Jack Bertrand dropped in 17 points. The girls seemed a step slow all game and were outscored 30-18 in the middle two quarters as Martensdale-St. Mary’s pulled away. Emma Dunkin was the only Panther in double figures with 12 points. The boys fall to 5-14 on the season while the girls are now 10-10. The boys will host Bondurant-Farrar on Thursday while the girls come back tonight to host Fairfield in their final regular season game. You can hear the action on 95.3 KNIA starting with the pregame at 7:15. Audio will also be provided on the KHS Activities You Tube Channel.
