The Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad sprinted out to a 9-2 lead over Fairfield, then the Trojans turned the tables and went on a 20-2 run to take control and eventually win 53-37 as heard on 95.3 KNIA on Tuesday night. The Panthers hit early shots and forced the Trojans to call a timeout. After that Fairfield switched to a zone defense and never let Knoxville into an offensive rhythm. Coach Matt Ritchhart told KNIA/KRLS Sports when Fairfield went to the zone, his girls were unable to react.

Ritchhart: “When they went to that zone we didn’t react. When you hold the ball in a zone it’s easy to defend, but when you move the ball with purpose and make them move, then you get open shots.”

Emma Dunkin led Knoxville with 14 points, Larissa Wells scored ten. Knoxville finishes the regular season 10-11 and will await the draw for the class 4A regional later this week.
