Several Pella youth wrestlers competed at AAU Districts in Washington, Iowa this past weekend. This group of athletes compete for different teams but they all come together to support each other at these large tournaments.

Placing this weekend and moving on to AAU Kids State are:

– Dalton Bruxvoort, 3rd-4th grade 86 lbs., from Ubasa Wrestling Academy, Champion with 3 pins.

– Wade Miller, 3rd-4th grade 66 lbs., from Mahaska Elite lost his first match and wrestled back with 3 pins and a tech fall to end 3rd on the day.

– Mariah Kinzenbaugh, 5th-6th grade, 108 lbs. from Mahaska Elite is our only female athlete competing from Pella this weekend. She worked hard in a tough boys bracket. Mariah earned a 4th place finish with a 3-2 record on the day.

Other athletes competing were:

– Kalvin Kinzenbaugh 3rd-4th grade 74 lbs. from Mahaska Elite
– Max Lundy 3rd-4th grade 62 lbs. from Pella Youth Wrestling
– Park Lundy 5th-6th 138 lbs. from Pella Youth Wrestling
– Teegan Ritzert 3rd-4th grade 74 lbs. from Pella Youth Wrestling
– Hudson Ritzert 5th-6th grade 8 2lbs. from Pella Youth Wrestling

Local youth wrestlers are advancing to the AAU Kids State Wrestling Championships on February 26th and 27th at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
