Knoxville resident, veteran, and Commander of the Knoxville American Legion Curt Froyen is serving as a volunteer at EveryStep Hospice in Knoxville and Mount Ayr. He is involved with both Veteran-to-Veteran visits and pinning ceremonies for veterans who receive care from EveryStep Hospice. The program is a special service pairing veterans who are volunteers with hospice patients who have served our country. Froyen tells KNIA/KRLS News that he shares a special bond with the veterans he meets while volunteering.

“There is just an immediate camaraderie it seems like when I sit down to visit with a veteran, even though maybe this is the first time I’ve ever met them. The shared experiences that we have had in serving our country, just kind of seems like there’s an automatic friendship that develops right away.”

In addition to serving as Commander of the Knoxville American Legion, Froyen also serves as a member of the Marion County Commission on Veterans Affairs and board president of the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation.
