Marion County Recorder Karen Schwanebeck announced her retirement at the Marion County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, after 20 years of service. Schwanebeck tells KNIA/KRLS News that she loved the role.

“I started in the Recorder’s office 27 years ago, and I truly love the job even after all these years, I can honestly say I absolutely love the job. I love working with the people that work at the courthouse, and the people that we interact with, the public. It really has been a wonderful opportunity for me to meet more of our people in Marion County, and just be able to serve them and help them with their needs.”

The Board of Supervisors will make a temporary appointment to fill the office of Marion County Recorder at a later date.
