The Simpson Storm women’s basketball team remains unblemished in American Rivers Conference play with a dominating 89-55 win over the Beavers of Buena Vista Wednesday evening, while the men fell 106-81.
The Storm women got off to their patented fast start, leading by 10 after the first and outscoring the Beavers 29-13 in the second to build a 51-25 lead at the half. Simpson continued the pressure into the third quarter, despite a late Beavers push and led 71-42, and were able to empty the bench in the fourth to get the win. Cassie Nash scored a season-high 27 points while Jenna Taylor scored 19 and grabbed 12 boards.
The Storm men had one of their best offensive outputs of the season Wednesday evening, but unfortunately for the Storm they were unable to contain the high-flying Beaver offense as they trailed 56-38 at halftime and were unable to recover as they gave up another 50 points in the second half. Tajen Ross scored 26 points to lead all scorers. The Storm women are now 20-1 and 12-0 in conference play, while the men are 5-17 and 2-11. Both teams celebrate senior day Saturday hosting Dubuque.
