The Indianola girls and boys basketball teams host Warren County rival Norwalk tonight at home, the conference finale for all four teams and the girls regular season final contest for both the Warriors and Indians.
The Warriors girls built a commanding 17-4 lead over the #4 Indians after the first quarter, but foul trouble and the Indians press allowed them to cut the lead down to just one at halftime and Indianola dominated in the second half to earn the win.
The Indians boys jumped all over the Warriors from the first minute, getting a 12-3 lead after the first eight minutes and scoring 30 points in the second quarter to build an insurmountable lead. In the first matchup, the Warriors were coming off of a four-overtime loss against Dallas Center-Grimes, and tonight Norwalk is coming off of a three-overtime loss against the Mustangs.
Indians head coach Jeff Ebling tells KNIA Sports the Indians built an early lead that spiraled out of control in the first matchup, and he knows the Warriors are a good team and tonight’s matchup will be a challenge.
The games can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA and Indianola Activities YouTube, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6pm, with tip-off scheduled for 6:15.
