Pleasantville and Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas’ wrestling squads will have wrestlers compete in district play at Pleasantville today.

The two squads will have a combined six wrestlers compete for a chance to compete in the state wrestling tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Competing for Pleasantville will be Caleb Cook at 126 lbs, Kitt Lundy at 132 lbs, Jacob Hiemstra at 152 lbs, Dillon Ammons at 160 lbs, and Trevor Daggett at 195 lbs. Kael Caikowski of Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas will compete at 113 lbs. Pleasantville Coach Heath DeForest says that there is a small advantage to having a district meet on their home mats.

“You got a lot of people that maybe wouldn’t travel to another site but since it’s in town they are going to come to it and be loud and rowdy, whatever you want to call it. It’s going to help just amplify the atmosphere for our five wrestlers today and we are extremely excited about that.”

District play at Pleasantville High School gets underway at 11:00 AM.
