Knoxville will host a class 2A Wrestling District today as six Panthers and three PCM wrestlers will join 51 other grapplers with dreams of clinching a spot at the State Meet next week. For the Panthers it has been nearly four seasons since a Knoxville Wrestler made the state meet and Coach Skyler Spaur tells KNIA/KRLS Sports three of his guys have a good shot at breaking through. He adds they have been working hard all week.
Spaur: “They’ve been working pretty hard. I think they’re ready and three of those guys have been here three times so they’re pretty hungry to get to the state level.”
From Knoxville Marco Alejo at 113 pounds, Luke Spaur at 132 pounds, Tristan DeJong at 160 pounds, Gavin Montalvo at 170 pounds, Wayne Johnston at 182 pounds, and Tretnon Kingery at 220 pounds will vie for State while PCM’s Remington Fry at 120 pounds, Donovan Nichollson at 195 pounds and Kaden Clarke at 285 pounds will represent the Mustangs.
