PCM’s girls’ basketball squad will begin postseason play tonight on the road at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

The Mustangs ended the regular season on a four-game losing streak, with their last win coming over Greene County January 25th. PCM is still operating without a few key players coming into the postseason. Evelyn Burkett is out for the rest of the season due to a broken hand. Emily Foster and Elianna Buswell are currently in concussion protocol while Sophia Steenhoek still has a partial tear in her quad. Coach Sami Allison-Rodriguez tells KRLS Sports that it is going to be a challenge going up against an athletic team like Eddyville.

“They are long, they are athletic, they mix up their defense a little bit and they do a good job spreading the ball around. I think they have four kids averaging double-doubles. They also don’t go super deep so I am excited about that because I feel like the last two teams we played could pull a whole other roster off the bench and sub them in.”

The first-round playoff game at Eddyville gets underway at 7:00 PM. The game will be broadcast on the KRLS3 stream at kniakrls.com with Alex Koch on the call.
