The City of Indianola will be holding a hearing on property taxes in March, which is required by state law. Director of Finance Andy Lent tells KNIA News a law passed in 2019 is called the Maximum Property Tax Dollars Hearing, and is where the Indianola City Council will finalize property tax levies. Lent also said the best way for residents to get their voices heard on property tax levies, budget process, and address any other issues with city finances, is to attend the city council meetings.
At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy. After adoption of the proposed tax levy, the City Council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.
The property tax hearing will take place on March 2nd during the regular council meeting.
